Cotton textile products
Attapeu province is one of the newly targeted areas of ODOP2. In May, we held a natural dyeing training for Vanxai villagers. They practiced the skills and will continue to use the acquired skills and improve the quality of their products. Their textiles are beautiful, and the villagers are currently trying to produce new types of cotton products such as bags and placement mats. ODOP2 will further support the training of natural dyeing and the improvement of product design. Through the workshop organized by Tama Art University from Japan, the villagers learned different textile designs and skills to produce new handicrafts that are more marketable for the current needs.
In May 2013, bamboo handicraft producers in Attapeu participated in a training of natural dyeing for the first time. The purpose of the training was to master how to dye bamboo strings for handicrafts. With naturally colored bamboo strings, the villagers make placement mats and several different types of pouches. This was the first trial for the villagers, but the quality and the design of products exhibit the very beauty of Lao nature. We are now fully convinced that their products will further improve in the future.
